What’s for Dinner?
February 20th, 2008The process of bringing food to the table comprises many areas of agribusiness - farming, seed supply, agrichemicals, farm machinery, wholesale and distribution, processing, marketing and retail sales. Ohio’s agribusiness industry represents each of these elements of the food production chain.
Gary Cooper, vice president and chief operating officer of Cooper Farms, told me about how Ohio’s strengths in agribusiness help his family’s company continue to succeed.
Q: How do your employees exemplify Ohio's Midwest values? Please share your thoughts.

I'm not sure what Midwest values are let alone Ohio but I do know our company has a valuable human resource. Our group is made up of thinkers, not just doers. It is important in our business as a 3PL that associates consider how they perform a task as time is money. So much so that our staff is motivated both internally and financially to be as effective in their job as possible. We don't have trouble with absenteeism or production. They know that when they arrive for work, if they're motivated, they can have a productive day and all will benefit.
