It was a 1977 trade from the Montreal Expos to the Cleveland Indians that first brought Andre Thornton to Ohio. Being able to balance a successful business with a rewarding way of life keeps him here 30 years later.

For a decade, Thornton was the Indians all-star first baseman. Today, he is Chairman and CEO of ASW Global, one of the nation's largest minority-owned and certified third party logistics companies. ASW provides such clients as Wal-Mart®, Goodyear, Diebold and KeyBank with logistical, warehouse, distribution and outsourcing services. From ASW's Ohio base, 65% of the U.S. population lies within one day's travel.

And from his home, Thornton says everything he needs is within a 30-minute drive. From sporting and cultural events to excellent schools and medical facilities, Thornton and his family enjoy all the amenities of the city without big city congestion. And as you'd expect from the winner of baseball's coveted Roberto Clemente and Hutch Awards for humanitarianism, Thornton still loves being able to make a difference in his community. In Ohio, he has both the time and opportunity.

Andre Thornton has achieved great success in two different careers without sacrificing his personal life. In Ohio, there's no need to - it's the perfect balance.
